Download Your French Tax Notice (Avis d'Imposition)

To download your avis d'imposition (tax assessment notice), log in to your Finances publiques account on impots.gouv.fr, open the "Documents" section and choose the year. The notice opens as a PDF: you can read, save or print it, even if you have lost the copy you received.

Steps to download your notice

1. Go to impots.gouv.fr and log in to your Finances publiques account, with your tax number (numéro fiscal) and password, or with FranceConnect (the state's single sign-on) if the site offers it.
2. Open the "Documents" section.
3. Choose the tab for the year you want. Years that contain documents are in blue, the others are greyed out.
4. Click the income tax notice (avis d'impôt sur le revenu): it opens as a PDF. Download or print it.

Save the PDF in a folder on your computer or phone: you will not have to log in again each time an organisation asks for it.

Which documents are in this section?

Not only the income tax notice. You also find:

• income tax returns;
• the avis de situation déclarative à l'impôt sur le revenu (ASDIR, income tax filing status notice);
• property tax notices (taxes foncières);
• housing tax notices (taxe d'habitation), but since 2023 only those for second homes;
• vacant housing tax notices.

The ASDIR: an immediate alternative

If you need proof right away, the site generates the avis de situation déclarative (ASDIR) as soon as you finish your online return. The site says it can be used for your procedures. But it is not a tax notice: ask the organisation whether it accepts it instead.

Paper or online notice?

From 2026, the income tax notice can be viewed online, in your Finances publiques account or in the app. It is sent by post only if you ask for it (box to tick on the return, or option in your profile). If you have not created a Finances publiques account, you keep receiving your notice by post.

For a specific situation, call the tax information service: 0809 401 401, Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 19:00, except public holidays (free service, plus the cost of the call).

Special cases

• No Finances publiques account: create one on impots.gouv.fr. The site offers a procedure if you have lost your tax number or password.
• Old notice: the "Documents" section goes back 10 years. For an older document, contact your tax office (service des impôts).
• An organisation asks for the notice: it can check its authenticity online with your tax number and the notice reference, written on the document. Ask what it accepts (notice, ASDIR or copy) before going anywhere.

What else you can do in the app

The Impots.gouv app is also used to pay your taxes, see your latest payments, manage your direct debit contracts and write to the tax office using the secure messaging, for example to ask for a copy of a notice.

Does it cost anything to download my tax notice?

No. Downloading from your Finances publiques account is free. Beware of sites that ask for money for this document.

What is the difference between the avis d'imposition and the ASDIR?

The avis d'imposition sets your tax, after your return has been processed. The ASDIR is created as soon as you have declared your income online and summarises your filing status. It is not a tax notice: the organisation asking for it will say which one it expects.

How many years can I find online?

The last 10 years in the "Documents" section of the website, and the last 3 years in the mobile app.

I forgot my tax number or password, what can I do?

The login page of impots.gouv.fr offers a procedure to recover these details. Follow it before calling the tax information service.
